I'm a Ford technician and I can tell you, that the 3.5 ecoboost is far more popular than the 5.0, and all the major problems I've seen in the 3.5 are due to lack of maintenance. Ford says 10,000, but from what I see, 10,000 even with full synthetic is too long and you'll run into cam phaser and timing chain concerns, as well as turbo concerns.
